Machciński Project

In the year 2018 I’ve done a set of 9 paintings of Tomasz Machciński. He is a very special artist; people called him: “The man with one thousand faces”. During 50 years of his art activity, he’s made about 22,000 black and white self-photos; playing each time a different person. Sometimes it was a historical figure or movie character, another time just a type of personality; a man or woman – doesn’t matter. I’ve participated with him in two exhibitions: ‚Why We Have Wars?’ in the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw 2016 and ‚I’m No Longer a Dog’ in the Silesia Museum in Katowice 2017. He is a really inspired and great artist to me. So using two photos – one his art-work and his natural portrait – I made a set of oil-paintings called ‚Machciński’.

‚Four Sale’ it’s about the Aleppo-Boy. Do you remember him? I do. There was a very sad photo young boy wounded in air-strike during a civil war in Syria. The news corporations were buying and publishing this photo around the world. But nothing happened. There were yer many air-strikes.
